It has been reported that from the age of about twenty, each year we lose around 1% of the collagen and elastin from our skin tissue. As a result of this gradual depletion, the skin becomes thinner and as the time goes by it has less and less of its youthful ‘bounce’. So it is accurate to say that it can effectively cure certain kinds of wrinkles from within the skin, by boosting and utilising your natural processes giving the skin a more youthful look. It provides hydration to the skin especially in the epidermis (the Hydro effect).
The procedure itself only takes less than 20 minutes. But your appointment is for 45 minutes, so you can have the consultation and discuss needs and prepare for the appointment fully and the procedure will never be rushed.
Profhilo does not require any downtime but we advise you avoid exercise for 24 hours, extreme temperatures for two days, dental procedure for at least 2 weeks and no further cosmetic treatment for at least 2 days.
No makeup, avoid alcohol,do not rub/massage treated area,do not lie down, remain in upright position,do not touch the treated area.
After treatment you may experience some slight redness, swelling, or tenderness in the treated area – this is temporary and will disappear in a few days. Avoid touching the area for 6 hours after the treatment, after this time the area can be washed with a gentle cleanser and sterile makeup can be applied.
Aftercare for Profhilo is similar to that of other injectable treatments. You can use a cold pack to reduce any redness or swelling and keep hydrated to ensure you get the best results from treatment.
Anaesthetic cannot be used and is not necessary for this treatment. The injections sting briefly, but patients generally report only a mild discomfort. After the treatment, you may experience some tenderness for the first 24- 72 hours.
Side effects will only be mild and redness that appear for some time such as erythema (redness), pain, itching, discolouration or tenderness at the injection site. Your aesthetician will explain things in detail at the consultation.
For most patients, we recommend an initial course of two treatment sessions, with an interval of one month between sessions. We may then recommend top-up and maintenance sessions, depending on your body’s response to the initial treatment.
Longevity does vary between individuals, but results are expected to be gained over a period of 4-10 weeks and last for approximately 6 months. If you choose not to maintain the results with further treatment, your skin will return to its pre-treatment state over time.
Most people can continue with normal activities. Some will have some redness, pin prick marks. Bruising is possible.
The product is injected in small ‘deposits’, you may be able to see them initially, but they settle usually within hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin.
