Post Procedure Advice

Information about what to expect straight after your treatment.

You may find that chin, temple and cheek fillers are less likely to cause swelling. This is because the filler is placed deeper or above bone or cartilage, and the swelling is therefore somewhat hidden. You may still see a bit of swelling and bruising, but it shouldn’t be too pronounced.

Lip fillers, on the other hand, are much more likely to cause some level of swelling, because lip tissue is fairly delicate. Don’t be alarmed if your lips look slightly fuller than you expected directly after treatment. By day three, the swelling should be improved.

Common reactions following treatment:

  • Bruising – for most the area of injection will appear no different once the initial redness. Any headaches can be treated with usual painkillers.
  • In some areas, for example treatment of lines in the upper lip – there may be several days of difficulty forming certain shapes with your lips. Such as ‘ooh’ or to form a whistle! This will settle.

Line Reducing Injectables longevity

  • Although some people experience longer lasting results, scientific evidence shows that the effect of Botox injections usually lasts 12-16 weeks.
  • Line Reducing Injectables do not ‘build up’ or accumulate in the treated areas. Treatments should be scheduled no less than 12-16 weeks apart, once the effects have worn off it is safe for vou to retreat the area again. It is safe for multiple treatments in different areas at the same time.
  • Once Line Reducing Injectables wear off, your muscles will function as they did before treatment. This means the wrinkles which you had smoothed or reduced will slowly begin to appear again. No new wrinkles will have been formed due to the treatment.
  • Line Reducing Injectables usually fully develops over a 7-10 day period. A review is offered to check technical and aesthetics results.

Common reactions following treatment:

  • Skin redness and flushing
  • Tightness
  • Itching
  • Tenderness
  • Stinging
  • Swelling
  • Pinpoint bleeding

Reactions will typically result within hours and most clients are able to return to their normal activities the same or the next day. Some people may react differently, experiencing these reactions for longer, however, these reactions are temporary and typically resolve within 3-4 days as the skin returns to normal.

Microneedle and Mesotherapy procedures may cause areas of bruising although this would not normally be expected to occur, the eye contour to be in the area at most risk. Any such bruising will be temporary. If you are taking any medication or dietary supplements that can affect platelet function and the bleeding time, the severity and period of bruising can be extended. Also, the presence of petechiae (small red or purple spots beneath the skin) may be observed.

There is a small risk that hyper pigmentation of skin can occur after this procedure, although this is not normally expected as the epidermis of the skin is not removed during the procedure.

Common reactions following treatment:

  • Skin redness and flushing
  • Tightness
  • Itching
  • Tenderness

Reactions will typically result within hours and most clients are able to return to their normal activities the same or the next day. Some people may react differently, experiencing these reactions for longer, however, these reactions are temporary and typically resolve within 3-4 days as the skin returns to normal.

Superficial chemical peels belong to the group known as AHAs or alpha hydroxy acids. These chemicals are mostly plant-based and work by exfoliating the dead skin cells at the surface, making it easier for cosmeceutical products to penetrate deeper and be more effective. Removing the dead skin also contributes to the rejuvenation process.
Different peels can be used to treat a range of skin conditions, for example kojic acid helps to reduce pigmentation and even skin tones, salicylic acid treats acne and dermatitis, whereas mandelic acid helps sensitive and photo-aged skin. By analysing a client’s skin classification, your practitioner can recommend a combination of the most appropriate peels to treat the condition. Enzyme peels, extracted from pineapples and papaya, digest the dead skin cells at the surface, stimulating cell renewal and rejuvenation. Medium peels such as glycolic acid and s penetrate further into the skin and are effective for removing damaged skin cells. Downtime for medium peels is slightly longer.
